A ruler of the 19th Dynasty, he reigned for nearly 67 years during the 13th century BCE. A great builder, military leader, and master in the art of projecting his own power, Ramses II filled Egypt with temples, colossal statues, and inscriptions celebrating his reign. His exceptional longevity and the scale of his achievements left a profound mark on the history and memory of Egyptian civilization.
Ramses II embodies the height of pharaonic power, asserting his authority through colossal constructions and carefully orchestrated propaganda. Dominating the scene, he stands before the monumental temples of Abu Simbel, carved into the rock to glorify his reign and preserve his image for eternity.
